He immigrated to the United States from Vendegi, Hungary in ____, leaving behind his bedridden wife and daughter, Julia. He worked as a coal miner in southern Illinois until an accident severly damaged his back. He had 5 vertibrea fused together and was eventually paid $500 by the mining company to compensate him for his injuries.
He searched for a new life in a neighborhood of fellow Hunkies. He found it in southern Michigan, in Covert Township. He purchased the farm on August 11, 1926, exactly five years before his grandson William Edward Rohaly would be born.
